The Tutonchana River is one of the most picturesque and interesting rivers on the Putorana Plateau. It belongs to the Kotuy River basin and is considered an excellent destination for those seeking authentic wild fishing and beautiful northern landscapes. Due to its remoteness and inaccessibility, the Tutonchana has preserved its pristine nature and a healthy population of trophy fish.
The Tutonchana River originates in the central part of the Putorana Plateau and flows through picturesque mountain landscapes for approximately 150 km before confluence with the Kotuy River. Its upper and middle reaches are typical mountain rivers, with rapids, numerous riffles, rapids, rocky banks, and beautiful canyons. In its lower reaches, the river becomes calmer, with long stretches and deep holes.
The banks of the Tutonchana are predominantly rocky and taiga, with dense thickets of larch and shrubs. The river's water is crystal clear and very cold, even in midsummer.

How our week-long rafting trips with helicopter transfers work
We offer a classic 7-day helicopter tour with rafting—our most popular and well-rounded option. The tour begins and ends in Turukhansk.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the heart of the Putorana Plateau
Upon arrival in Turukhansk, our staff will meet you. We'll help you change clothes, purchase any necessary supplies, and transport you to the helipad.
A Mi-8T helicopter, fully loaded with rafting equipment, takes you to the headwaters of one of the Putorana Plateau's rivers. The flight lasts from 40 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the chosen route.
After landing on a pebble spit or a comfortable clearing, you have time to make your first casts and try your luck. While your guests are fishing, the guides quickly set up camp, set up the kitchen, and prepare a festive dinner. In the evening, get acquainted with the river for the first time, discuss tactics, and relax under the stars.
Days 2–6: Main days of rafting and fishing
Each day begins with a hearty and delicious breakfast. Afterward, participants gather their personal belongings, board their boats, and continue their rafting journey downriver.
During the day, you will float independently, fishing the most promising spots:
- powerful pressure on the rocks
- deep holes and exits from them
- riffles and rifts
- snags and tributaries of small rivers
After camp is set up, the ranger team (guides) catch up with the group in a cargo boat and go ahead, choosing the best spot for the next night. A hot dinner, a sauna, and a comfortable campsite are ready for your arrival.
The group covers 10-30 km per day (depending on the route and weather conditions). Fishing takes place both from boats and from the shore. Guides are constantly on hand to suggest the best spots and assist with bait selection and fishing tactics.
Day 7: Completion of the rafting trip and return to Turukhansk
In the morning, we pack up camp and make the final drops. At the appointed time, a helicopter arrives and picks up the group. Flight back to Turukhansk.
Upon arrival, check into a hotel, enjoy a sauna, and relax. In the evening, you can celebrate the end of the rafting trip.
Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, if time permits, we'll organize a short tour of Turukhansk. Afterwards, we'll transfer to the airport and say goodbye until we meet again.

The Tutonchana River, a right tributary of the Nizhnyaya Tunguska River in Krasnoyarsk Krai, is a picturesque body of water ideal for trophy fishing. The river is 456 km long, and its basin area is approximately 16,800 km². Situated in the remote area of the Putorana Plateau, the river attracts anglers with its rich ichthyofauna and pristine natural environment.
Types of fish
- Taimen: Tutonchany's main trophy, reaching weights of over 30 kg. This powerful predatory fish requires sturdy tackle and a catch-and-release policy due to its protected status.
- Grayling: Popular for spinning and fly fishing, especially active in the evening hours.
- Lenok: A lively fish found in the main channel and tributaries such as the Muili River.
- Pike, whitefish, perch: They add variety to the catch, making fishing exciting.

- Routes: Fishing on the Tutonchan River is organized as a motorboat or rafting trip. Tours begin below the mouth of the Muili tributary, where the river takes on mountainous features. In the middle reaches, there are two navigable rapids, and on the left tributary of the Belchan, there is a picturesque 18-meter waterfall, adding aesthetic value to the tour.
