A boat is not a vessel, but an excellent fishing tackle

This ancient fishing method, known since ancient times, allows you to catch fish in even the most overgrown bodies of water. The secrets of its design and features allow anglers to make it right on the shore or while floating. After all, this fishing tackle is quite simple. It's also called a water snake, but that's a matter of personal preference. It's worth noting that this fishing method has been around for centuries.
The main advantage of this rig is that the boat can be set up at a considerable distance from the anglers' location, where shy predators like lenok are found. It makes no noise and usually yields hefty catches.

Design Features

As described above, boats allow you to catch especially wary fish, which are the majority on the Putorana Plateau. They are accustomed to the natural silence and tend to avoid areas where people frequent. Noise and sounds cause the fish to retreat and leave their favorite spots. Therefore, this type of tackle is a great aid when catching large specimens.
You can make a boat yourself, without any unnecessary items. It can even be constructed from a simple plastic bottle, by winding and securing a fishing line with hooks and a sinker. It can also be made from wood. Two small blocks are securely fastened together, creating an unsinkable structure, like a catamaran. A fishing line with hooks is wound through the middle of the connecting planks.
Then, using a raft or boat, the homemade fishing craft is set up in a preferred location on the water. For example, over a hole or a river basin where large predators often hang out. There's no need to even install bite alarms on the tackle. This becomes noticeable when the bottle or boat begins to act as if it's trying to escape the fishing spot.
A good mooring of the fishing gear to a thick tree and a strong rope tethering the boat are crucial. This will prevent a strong predator from luring it away to explore the waters of the reserve. The same applies to the fishing gear; otherwise, if attacked by taimen or lenok, you might not have time to reel in your catch.

How to equip a boat

With this fishing method, you can secure the structure by tying it to a fly rod or spinning rod. However, it's often easier to use nearby trees to save on the main gear. Boats allow you to fish even in the fastest currents of mountain rivers.
Using fishing rods allows you to move the vessel from one point to another in the water. However, to do this, you'll need to remove the thin parts of the rod; it's better to use a wooden fishing rod, made the old-fashioned way, right on the shore.
Another additional piece of equipment when fishing with a spinning rod is a reel. Powerful multiplier reels can be used. A strong braided line is used for towing. In a pinch, thick monofilament line can be used. Lures can include artificial mice, flies, and the like.

This simple homemade device can sometimes help you catch a large lenok or taimen. Therefore, you can try out a variety of fishing options while rafting. And after fishing, enjoy delicacies prepared from these noble Siberian fish.
