Fishing for predators involves many methods and lures. When rafting through the Turukhansk Region Nature Reserve, home to various bloodthirsty species, a wide variety of baits and lures are used. One such lure is the jig.
Jig design and its features
These are silicone lures of various colors and patterns. With a spinning rod and some experience, many predators, huge pike, and sizable perch couldn't resist them.
In fact, the name "jig" originated from a dance performed by British sailors. Yes, specifically, because when reeled in, a light silicone lure periodically hits the bottom of the reservoir. Moreover, these strikes are intermittent and quite sharp. That's the origin of jigging.
The jig is designed as follows:
- Long narrow strips of silicone of different colors and sizes;
- Jig heads are special, usually round, weights that help the bait dance like sailors.
- Hook.
To achieve a more jigging (dancing) action, anglers equip their rods with spinning reels. These silicone lures are shaped like small fish, and a variety of weights and rigging techniques play a key role.

Advantages and types of equipment.
The main advantage of jig fishing is that it can be used on any body of water, be it the Yenisei Or Lake Agata, it doesn't matter. The results are for perch and pike caught. The price will definitely be high. Furthermore, jig fishing works well on the numerous mountain rivers of the Putorana region.
And it allows you to catch quite large river "alligators." But for this, the jig is equipped with double or treble hooks. Various types of rigs can be attached to the jig, which look like this:
Texas
A silicone rig equipped with a bullet-shaped sinker, a single hook, and a stop bead. An indispensable bait for bodies of water with dense weeds or clogged with various snags.

Caroline
Allows for more free movement when retrieved, enticing even the laziest predators to attack in shallow water. This rig is almost identical to the Texas rig, with one difference: the retrieve is attached via a swivel.
Moscow
Another name for this type of rig is the "drop shot" or "spread shot." Its advantage is that it allows you to cast ultralight silicone lures over fairly long distances. Its design is reminiscent of the paternoster used on feeder rods. That is, two rigs of different lengths are equipped with a hook on the first rig and a sinker on the second.
Drop shot
Unlike the previous "Moscow" model, this bait does not have a second leader. It simply has a weight attached to the hook, positioned at a greater distance.
Jigs can be divided into different categories: Vibrotails; Twisters. Other silicone lures are designed for catching non-predatory fish, such as crucian carp, carp, bream, ide, etc. They are made in the form of larvae, worms, and crustaceans. These types of lures are a wonderful choice for a trophy fishing trip along the Yenisei River.
