This noble species can be caught during fishing trips on the Putorana Plateau. A close relative of the whitefish, the pyzhyan has excellent-tasting meat containing a wealth of nutrients and vitamins. Thanks to its many positive qualities, this predator is highly sought after.
The pyzhyan fish is not particularly fussy and survives well in captivity. Today, fish farms across the country breed this species artificially. It is capable of producing large numbers of offspring, regardless of its habitat, whether in natural bodies of water or in a closed aquarium.
What does the individual look like?
The predatory specimen bears many similarities to the founder of the genus, the whitefish. Externally, the whitefish looks like this:
The body is elongated, thin, and slightly elongated. Covered with small, golden scales.
· In adult predators, there is a pronounced hump on the back.
The dorsal fin is similar to that of whitefish. The back itself is slightly grayish.
The predator's grayish head features a small mouth equipped with teeth. The pyzhyan has no whiskers, spines, or other growths.
· The maximum length of an individual can reach 55 cm, but more often smaller fish weighing 500-600 g are caught on the hook. The body weight of adults can be 2.5 kg.

Where to catch pyzhyan?
When traveling to the protected taiga, you can fish for this predator on tours along the Yenisei River. They also inhabit other large bodies of water in Siberia, such as the Ob River and Lake Baikal.
This relative of the whitefish can also be found in small rivers and lakes, but catches are much more modest than in the lakes listed above. This fish prefers cold, clear waters, and its population is currently not declining.
The pyzhyan can survive well in both fresh and salt water. These predators travel in schools, and when caught, trophies can be quite numerous. Considering that these individuals are bred on private fish farms, there are currently no restrictions on the pyzhyan catch.
How to catch a predator?
A fly rod is considered a particularly popular fishing tackle for the whitefish relative, the pyzhyan. Fishing becomes exciting and engaging because the fish will fight the angler to the bitter end, resisting for a long time and defying capture. Compared to grayling, the pyzhyan is a stronger and longer-lasting fighter.
A spoon bait is an excellent lure. When casting, hold it so it occasionally touches the bottom of the pond. A slow tempo, with pauses and taps against rocks and sand, attracts predators, who begin to attack the bait. Evenings are a good time to catch substantial trophies. When it's cool and overcast, shad can bite throughout the day.

Briefly about the main thing
It's worth noting that pyzhyan meat can be stored for a very long time. When stored properly, it won't spoil even after several years. For example, in large refrigerators, the predator can easily last for at least five years.
Tasty, healthy delicacies are prepared from this predatory fish during rafting. It's perfect for making pelmeni (dumplings), chebureki (chebureki), sugudai (stewed meat), or malosol (sauce). Once you've tasted the juicy, tender meat of the pyzhyan, you'll never forget its flavor.
