Various trophy fishing trips to protected areas allow you to gain skills in many areas and learn fishing tricks. Many fishing enthusiasts learn new techniques and gear that help them catch impressive trophies.
One of the most common forms of big-game fishing is carp fishing. Competitions are held not only in Russia but also in many other countries. However, carp fishing competitions don't involve the use of cake nets designed for catching large carp.
Because this type of tackle causes severe trauma to the caught fish, they allow you to save on expensive equipment and catch substantial specimens.
Design Features
A makushatnik (or oil cake) is a special fishing tackle for carp fishing. It's a simple flat lead weight, to which hooks are attached using leaders. The bait is oil cake, or pressed oil cake. It's attached in various ways: with elastic bands, cords, screws, etc.
Oil cake is considered one of the best, most aromatic carp baits. When dropped into the water, the pressed texture of the oil cake softens and attracts large fish. The water around the hooks becomes cloudy from the dissolving bait, and trophy fish inevitably become hooked as they consume it. Bite indicators indicate a bite, and the angler simply needs to set the hook and reel in the fish.

What's good about makushatnik?
The positive qualities of the bait include the following:
· Simple design and installation on fishing gear, can be done in a few minutes.
· Excellent trophies of carp representatives will definitely please the angler.
· The bait can be attached to various tackle: bottom fishing rods, throw-out rods, and mugs.
· The Makushnik, which does not have hooks, can be used as a feeder.
· Fishing with such bait can be done at absolutely any time of the year and often brings results.
· Making the bait yourself is not difficult at all, everything is easy and simple.
When equipping a donk with a pressed oil cake, you will need auxiliary elements of the tackle: leaders, reels with baitrunners etc. But on other gear such as mugs or throw-lines, they are not required.
How to make a cake pan yourself?
Take a lead plate and drill several holes in it. One of them should be in the center, and the others should be at the edges. Attach the hooked leaders to them, and the central hole is for the leader.
The sides of the plate will need to be bent to prevent the rig from sinking underwater during casting. This will ensure the bait stays firmly on the weight. A screw is screwed into the center of the oil cake, which will help secure the bait to the structure. Leaders are made of nylon cord, 6 to 20 cm long. A snap hook or swivel is used to connect the leader to the rod line. Attach the hooks, and the setup is complete.
